The Jubilee Church
Apparently there are more than 900 churches in Rome but look on Wikipedia and only one of them is from this century. Known variously as the Jubilee Church, the Church of 2000, the Dives in Misericordia or the Chiesa di Dio Padre Misericordioso, it was designed by Richard Meier who'd beaten off Frank Gehry, Santiago Calatrava and Tadao Ando to get the job.
For anybody who enjoys the interplay of light and shadow then I heartily recommend a visit to Meier's building if you're ever in Rome. Look out especially for the sculpted cubic structure within which the organ sits.
Six of these pictures are from the naturally lit interior of the church, a couple are from the covered entrance area outside and one - the centre one - is of a doorway hidden around at the back of the building.
